Job Profile
An orthopedic technology mechanic manufactures orthopedic aids for people with physical impairments. These primarily include orthoses and prostheses. Orthoses serve to support limbs that are non-functional or have limited functionality. Prostheses provide mechanical replacement for limbs that are absent or no longer present. In addition to manufacturing, the orthopedic technology mechanic is also responsible for the individual adaptation of the respective aids to the patient.
Your Area of Activity
• During your training, you will work through various workshops and departments of our company and become familiar with our diverse range of care solutions.
• You will plan, design, and build various orthopedic aids using the medical, technical, and craftsmanship expertise you acquire, such as prostheses, orthoses, corsets, bodices, seating shells, and many more.
• You will be in direct contact with our customers, taking measurements, conducting fittings, and testing new orthopedic aids.
• You will create plaster casts and models for the construction of the aids.
• You will work with various materials such as carbon (CFRP), titanium, and fiber composite materials, as well as cutting-edge manufacturing techniques like 3D scanning and 3D printing.
